There’s a particular kind of confidence that comes from having sat inside the machine you’re now trying to fix. For the founders of Futurelab Studios, years spent inside large FMCG and technology organisations, watching expensive new tools arrive with fanfare and quietly fail to change anything at all.
“We saw that enterprises rarely suffer from a lack of tools,” the founders reflect. “The bigger gap is between the tool and the everyday workflow.” It’s a familiar diagnosis in enterprise tech circles, but it became the founding thesis of a company: AI deployment must start with how work actually happens, not with how it’s described in a slide.
The First Client Was the First Clue
Every founder story has an origin engagement, and for Futurelab Studios, that was a global consumer goods giant. It wasn’t just a proof point, it was a preview of the opportunity’s real size. “Once people applied AI to their own documents, data and decisions, they began identifying many more possibilities themselves,” the founders recall. “One useful workflow would uncover five others.”
That single observation reframed the business. This wasn’t going to be a workshop-and-walk-away model. Organisations needed a partner willing to stay through the entire arc: from awareness, to experimentation, to full deployment. Today, that thesis has scaled to over 70 organisations, all Indian and international giants.
The founders credit a formative nudge from NSRCEL for sharpening their edge: “NSRCEL pushed us to think more clearly about where we had a genuine right to win.”
The result was focus; deliberately narrowing into enterprise AI deployment within sectors where the team understands both the people and the workflows: FMCG, consulting, and the impact sector.
Why They Insist on Sitting With the Work
Ask the founders what differentiates their engagement model, and the answer isn’t just a technology stack. Futurelab Studios works alongside teams before it builds anything, studying roles, data and day-to-day decisions up close. That proximity does two things: it surfaces the real bottlenecks and constraints, and it guards against a trap that’s swallowed countless AI pilots. The Futurelab approach flips the sequence. Validate that a workflow genuinely matters first. Only then decide what gets automated, augmented, or redesigned.
Where the Demand Is
Right now, FMCG is where the pull is strongest. These organisations sit on oceans of sales, distribution and consumer data and the challenge has never been volume, it’s velocity: turning that data into timely, actionable decisions. Futurelab Studios is investing accordingly, building intelligence layers and AI tools designed to support decision-making and field teams directly.
The Line Between a Pilot and a Deployment
“Too many pilots begin with the technology and then search for a use case,” the founders observe. The ones that make it to scale start with a real business problem, clear ownership, and access to the right data. Sustainability isn’t a technical property. It’s earned when AI becomes part of an existing workflow, produces a measurable improvement, and is trusted by the people expected to actually use it.
Forward AI Deployment: The Company They’re Building
Ask what “Forward AI Deployment” means to them, and the founders describe something closer to a philosophy than a service line: helping organisations move from talking about AI to putting it to work. That means supporting the complete journey from building internal capability, to identifying the workflows worth pursuing, and deploying AI systems that fit around an organisation’s existing data and operations, rather than asking the organisation to fit around the AI.
“The goal is not to create more AI demonstrations,” they say. “It is to create measurable changes in how work gets done.”
